Info
Found throughout the galaxy as the premier Imperial shuttle, the Lambda class craft are famous for their paradoxically graceful visage. Unlike many Imperial designs, which are all about destructive power and mechanical efficiency, the Lambda appears more like an ancient bird. It possesses a massive dorsal airfoil atop a beaked command cabin and cargo hold. A lower pair of airfolis fold down into a gull-wing position for flight and swing up vertically upon landing. From beneath the "break", a ramp telescopes down for boarding and loading.
Their roles are varied. A standard crew is four, and can berry twenty passengers. Many are stripped down internally to carry eighty tons of modular cargo, usually specialty items. Unlike othe shuttles, the Lambda is equipped with a reliable hyperdrive, and thus becomes an excellent system-fleet ferry.
The shuttle was, at one time, tried as a dropship for military forces. Tragically, it proved too vulnerable and could not effectively and efficiently transport the amount of material that the landing forces required. Cygnus went further upon the basic design and expanded it into the Sentinel class dropship. The Lambda was relegated to its usual role, and it still serves in this capacity to this day.
